Google has come up with a new feature for G Suite Enterprises and G Suite Business users which is known as Team Drive. It is little similar to Google My Drive.
The Google Team Drive is actually a shared electronic space. Shared electronic space here refers to many gigabytes of space which is up for grab. It has been created by keeping in mind the nature of work in the offices.
In “Google Team Drive” a group of people with a common office team are brought into a group where they can share and view their files and folders.
In other terms, teams can easily store, search, access and sometimes restore their files anywhere from any device.
Basically it is used to promote team work by dropping out the fear of losing information stored.
Technically to have a Team Drive there needs to be a Google suite business edition or google suite enterprise edition.
When you add new members, they’re given full access to upload, edit, and delete files, and to invite other members. You can, however, change member permissions.
There are 4 types of access accounts in team drives
1. Full access
2. Edit access
3. Comment access
4. View access
- Full access
It is the maximum access one can be given on team drive. Here one can view files and folders, can comment on files, can edit files, can create and upload files, can create folders, can add people to Team Drives or remove them, can add people to specific files, can move files and folders, can delete files and folders, can restore files from trash.
- Edit access
It is the next highest access one can be given on team drive. Here one can view files and folders, can comment on files, can edit files, can create and upload files, can create folders, can add people to specific files, can restore files from trash.
